On the evening of March 7, 2009, Peace Arch Community Services Foundation held its 14th Annual Fundraising Gala, "Pirates of the Peninsula" at the Hazelmere Golf and Country Club.
Our evening of festivities started with a special welcome and appetizers, while captivating our 160 guests by our treasure islands. The evening continued with a delicious sit down dinner (a pirate's feast!), live and silent auctions (a treasure trove of valuable items!), fun activities (Walk the Plank!) and dancing to the wee hours with the Ray Myers band (always a big hit in any port!). Known as "the fun gala", it lived up to its reputation and raised approximately $45,000 for the 14 different internationally accredited health and social programs that Peace Arch Community Services has provided to the communities of Surrey and White Rock for over three decades.
We thank all of our sponsors, contributors, patrons and friends who took the pirate theme to heart and came in an eclectic mix of costumes as you will see in the pictures and the Thank You Ad, reproduced from the Peace Arch News.
A special thanks to "Mango" and his parrot friends from the Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary, Michael "Captain Charteuse" Kalmuk and his merry mates David "Blackbeard" Young and Gordon "Lafitte” Hogg, Elizabeth Hollick for her fabulous back drop for our guest photos, Brian Giebelhaus for taking the pictures, Reid’s Photo Source for the processing, our tireless volunteers and committee members.
Without all of you, none of this would have been possible.
